tlpl78-projector-lamp-module
TLPL78 projector lamp module

TLPL78 is a complete lamp module for Toshiba's TLP-380 and TLP-781 model families, covering the 380, 381, 780 and 781 variants along with their E, J, U, DJ and MJ suffixed versions. The same lamp is also specified for the Elmo EDP-X70, which shares its engine with these Toshiba projectors. Toshiba's own alternative code for this part is 75016587.

With 22 compatible projector models spanning two brands, it pays to match your exact model code rather than the general TLP-380 or TLP-780 name, the DJ, J and MJ suffixed Japan-market units, for instance, are listed separately from the U and E export versions. TLPL78 and 75016587 refer to the same lamp, so either code will get you the right part.

At a glance

Type — Projector Lamp with Module

SKU — LA-08980

Compatibility — 22 projector models

Common questions

Is the Elmo EDP-X70 really compatible with a Toshiba-branded lamp?
Yes. Elmo and Toshiba shared the same projector engineering for this model, so the EDP-X70 takes an identical lamp to the Toshiba TLP-380 and TLP-780 ranges, there is no separate Elmo-only part.

What does the 75016587 code refer to?
It is Toshiba's own alternative reference for the same lamp sold here as TLPL78. Either number describes the identical part, so you do not need to search for one over the other.

My projector is a TLP780DJ, is that covered?
Yes. The DJ, J and MJ suffixed versions of the TLP-780 and TLP-781 are Japan-market variants of the same projector family and take the same TLPL78 module as the standard and U-suffixed models.

Is this lamp sold with its housing?
Yes, TLPL78 is a full module, lamp and housing together, so it replaces the whole unit inside the projector rather than requiring you to keep the original housing.

When should a projector lamp like this be replaced?
Once picture brightness has noticeably dropped, colours look washed out, or the projector's own lamp warning appears, it is generally time to fit a new module rather than wait for the bulb to fail outright.
